What? Why are we talking about the Goat again so soon? Didn't we just run one? Yes, and for those of you who made a New Year's resolution that you'd do better in the next Goat, put down that left over eggnog...March 26 will be here before you know it.
Initially Harold and I were going to put on a Goat at Morgan Territory in the fall, but then the club decided to have an A meet there, so we decided to use the north side of Briones because the club has limited use of that area due to the smallish parking lot. Perfect for a Goat event, but the Scout 'O is in Briones in the fall, so we have to do it in the spring. We (you) learned the hard way last year that the grass gets too long at Briones in late spring, so we ended up with March 26. It'll be lovely, green hills (short grass), wildflowers, no star thistle yet and cool weather. I've already done some preliminary planning and this much I can tell you...it won't be as hard as Quicksilver, but it will most definitely be harder than the average blue course. The Kid will be about 6k and the Golden Goat about 10k. We will probably have a remote start about 1k from the parking to get us up on the ridge. I won't be finalizing the courses for a bit, because I want to see the newly mapped area to determine if it'll fit into the grand scheme. It's supposed to be done soon.
