Well, it doesn't seem like we'll have record-breaking rain this weekend, just showers — chilly though (maybe a dusting of snow...that would be cool). Bring some dry, warm clothes for afterward. We'll be in the log shelter, so it'll at least be dry in there, and we'll have plenty of hot drinks and treats. We'll have our propane heater there, and you can take turns standing in front of it!
Bon Tempe is beautiful this time of year. Greening up nicely, and the lakes are pretty full. We saw lots of wildlife last week as we vetted the courses. There's a fair amount of dead fall in the white areas. Much of it is the result of the sudden oak death problem that continues to kill off the weaker oaks, but it certainly looks to me like it's tapering off. The woods in the first and last part of the courses are the worst, so don't get discouraged early on. Only the long course ventures onto the "Hillside of Death", but it's brief and up high on the hill where things are not too terribly overgrown and/or confusing.
The map scale is 1:10,000 with a contour interval of 40 ft (12.2 m). The final course stats are as follows:
