This sixth meet of the BAOC COOL season was held on a cool clear Sunday—perfect for Orienteering. There were 16 students attending this meet, including four brand new to the league.

Nothing much new in the Elementary Girls class. Johanna Karras earned another win. Gabija Masalkovaite pulled a strong second place, and Annie Samuelson continues to improve earning a close third. Emily Hann and Karina Masalkovaite took fourth and fifth places, respectively.

We had two new runners in the Elementary Boys class. Kaeden Wemmer ran an amazing 12-minute pace for his first meet. But the usual trio was not to be caught, all running even faster. But new runner Loren Meigs ran a fantastic 8-minute pace, busting up the usual trio and taking second place. Gavin Williams took the honors yet again with the fastest pace of anyone in the league. David Harrison was about a half minute behind Loren for third place, and Rory Maclean was about two and a half minutes behind David for the fourth. Kaeden hails from Marin School, like David, so now they can count the scores of two competitors, a real advantage in this league. And Loren attends Berkeley Arts Magnet with Gavin, giving that school a huge boost.

Another rookie ran Course 2 for the Middle School Boys class—William Morris ran a wonderful 13:47 pace to take second place from Philipp Kopisch, long-time owner of this standing. Daniel Kopisch took first place, breaking the ten-minute pace.

Our fourth new runner, Long Dam, joined his Silver Creek High schoolmate Jimmy Chang on Course 3 and won the course on his first time out. This pulls Silver Creek to a strong first place in the High School JV category.

Cameron Ferguson ran again uncontested in the Varsity class. It looks increasingly unlikely that any other High School will match Monta Vista's perfect one-person score of 400 points by the end of the season.
