Wiki To Do List
- make event editing easier to figure out what year it is, let the user select what time frame to look at, whether to include non-local events, etc., use cookies to remember what the user has chosen for their schedule display options (if possible)
- finish the google map code I added to automatically place events on the map using the coords stored in the location record of the park for that event, so that these maps don't need to be updated by hand anymore
- figure out why new schedule page does not print out as nicely as the old one
- make sure email tag has a way to get the member's position into the tooltip
- improve the results index (by simplifying the display of events in it)
- need a special tag for displaying the directions to an event
- add something for home page event listings that makes it more clear when an event is not a BAOC event (include the club name somewhere prominent)
- changing the data structure for the Contacts page. Chuck suggests that there be a field for specifying an email address for the Position, ideally, that field could be left blank to have the person's email address used
- add pictures of officers and meet directors to the contact list
- home page should have a feature section box, that features something different about the web site every once in a while (and perhaps a different one every time someone visits)
- put Bob's map list on the web when its ready
Wikification Ideas
Chuck: I wonder if it would be easy to modify the wikifier to make the new page be a child of the Sandbox?
Van: That's an interesting idea, and then you could move it from there once you like it. I like that idea the best so far. So here's what the steps would be:
- Hit the "wikify this page" link on the web page you want to wikify. The old page would remain in place unchanged, and a wikified copy would appear in the sandbox.
- Edit the page under the sandbox until you like it and any wikification issues are cleaned up.
- Go back to the original page, where the "wikify this page" link would now appear as something like "replace with sandbox wiki page", and you would click that instead. The page you worked on in the sandbox would be moved out of the sandbox and into the regular wiki area, and the redirect would be activated so that the old page's URL is served with the new wiki page instead.
A-Meet Reg Form
About the proposed A-Meet Reg form:
- People who pay on-line using our A-meet form could use paypal to pay if they like (or click the send-a-check-in-the-mail box). We could set that up fairly easily with a paypal button next to the form. BAOC would need to open a Paypal account, and they do charge 2 or 3% to businesses when people pay.
- Might as well arrange for people for pay for membership renewal the same way at some point. Whether it beats what Active.com charges us for these kinds of things or not, it would still look a lot more professional and be more customizable for us to have our own forms.
- We could in fact, then give away the web-site scripts for this to other O-clubs (in exchange for a small link at the bottom of the page pointing to our club web site, which would increase our visibility and Google rankings.)
- more enhancements to online registration: e-mail receipts, e-mails to registrar, paypal integration, and some of the fields adjusted from 0/1 to Y/N, etc.
