Hi Guys, On March 28 we sent a proposal to the BOD for a self-registration system. Our proposal is as follows: It is similar to the self-registration system used at park entrances, and is dependent on acceptance by the club of an HONOR system.

Limitations:

  1. BAOC/GCO Club Members (Pre-established in e-punch Data Base)
  2. Runners on courses using E-punch
  3. Single Runners preferred (Group limit = 2)
  4. Runners owning their own E-Punch (No Rentals)
  5. Runners that dont require change. (Registration will not provide change for envelopes)

Procedure:

  1. Fill out Envelope
    • Name
    • Signature
    • Course color
    • E-stick number
    • Car color & license No.
    • Amount of deposit
  2. Deposit exact Change in envelope (Cash/Check)
  3. Seal envelope. Tear off Stub.
  4. Deposit Envelope in box.
  5. Proceed to e-punch station
  6. Register course & E-Punch No. in Data Base
  7. Proceed to Start & turn Stub in at Start.
  8. Get start time
  9. Clear & Check e-stick, before you start
  10. Don't get lost and HAVE FUN
  11. Check in at Download station after your course

The envelope would also have a tear-off stub with spaces for course color and entrant name which would be turned in at the start.

The entrant fills out the envelope and stub, puts entry fee is in the envelope, seals the envelope, rips off the stub, drops the envelope into a box at the registration table (or the e-punch station) and turns the stub in at the start.

The e-punch crew can input the data at their leisure, or work with a potential upload station that Evan & Trinka are working on, which may allow members to use their e-stick to check in prior to the Start.

The registration crew can collect the processed envelopes after the starts close, and do the book work, banking and reporting (to the Treasurer) the following week.

The on-site Registration crew will only deal with the long lines of White, Yellow, Groups, non-member Orienteerers, and those members who need to rent e-sticks, or require change.

This will provide an additional PERK for members, and encourage people to purchase their own e-stick and thus support our database system.

Please send us your comments and discussion, so we can proceed with working out the details.
