Electronic Punching for Indian Valley Sprints
By Evan Custer
There will be two EP setups for Indian Valley. The computer at the pool will be used for the White/Yellow/Orange competitors only. If you are doing the Sprint, do not sign in at the computer at the pool.
The Sprint will have a separate EP setup with a computer in the standard blue tent at the Sprint Start/Finish area, which is a 5-minute walk from the pool registration area. Since there will be 4 sprints, with the times of the first and second combined for one result, and the times for the third and fourth races combined for the second result, this will necessitate that the EP person (me) switch back and forth between two events, each of which will have two stages. I am bound to enter someone's results in the wrong stage and/or event, so please be patient. Also, please observe the following requests:
- Know your USOF class (i.e., M45, F50, etc.) This is necessary for submission for the national sprint series. I will be asking you your class when you enter your stick in the computer.
- You probably will have to enter twice, because from a software point of view, there are two events, and each event requires entering the person's name, class and SI card number. I may be able to do some export/import function between the two events, but don't count on it. Instead, be prepared to have to reenter for the second "event", i.e., the 3rd and 4th races.
- You will have to Clear and Check your stick for EACH of the 4 races. Please be sure you have downloaded your results of one race before you Clear and Check for the next race.
- And remember, I am bound to screw up, so don't take it personally when I am grumpy and harried.
This should be a fun event. I am sure we can manage the complicated logistics of the EP, even though it may take some time.
