Location: Palo Alto, CA
Event Directors: - 415.948.5593,
Course Setter: Stanford Orienteering Club
Type: C; White, Yellow, Sprint, and two Mystery-O courses

This event is sponsored by the Stanford Orienteering club and directed by BAOC.

Join the Stanford Orienteering Club at the scenic Stanford campus for what promises to be a great day of Spring orienteering among campus buildings and low hills with very little poison oak.

The following five courses will be offered:

  Course Length Controls Technical Level
  White 1.6 km 11 Beginner
Yellow 3.0 km 11 Advanced Beginner
  Sprint 3.0 km 14 Intermediate
Short Mystery 3.6 km 10 Advanced
Long Mystery 6.9 km 19 Advanced

The Sprint course will be counted as part of the national sprint series. The Mystery-O courses are basically Window-O courses with a twist. The Sprint and Mystery-O courses won't share any controls, so you should plan to run both the Sprint and one of the Mystery-O courses. See the Course Setters' Notes for more information about the courses.

Registration and the Start will be at the same location as last year — next to Tresidder Student Union on the White plaza side (near Dinkelspiel Auditorium).

The standard BAOC event schedule will be followed: Registration open from 9:00 am to noon, short beginner clinics from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Starts open 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, courses close at 2:00 pm.

Note: Unlike previous years, the BAOC annual membership meeting and officer election will not be held at this event. Information about the meeting is available here.

Stanford will be holding their annual Community Day event that day. It is a campus open house designed for families, and includes campus tours, faculty lectures, student performances, sports and games for kids, a community health fair, and a variety of exhibits and programs hosted by university offices and organizations.

As always volunteers are needed to help with clinics, starts, finishes, results, and control pick up. All tasks are fun and easy, and training will be provided. Just drop a note to the Event Director and let her know where you'd like to help.
