Final results are now posted at NightAndDayChallenge.com (http://www.nightanddaychallenge.com/results.asp). A total of 233 of you braved chilly weather for BAOC's third annual grand tour of San Francisco.
Four 16-hour teams visited all the checkpoints this year, all in the duathlon division. In order of their return, they are AR Nav Supplies, BARRBD Wire, Big Green, and Dirty Avocados – Skins. First place AR Nav Supplies had also been first place last year, the only team in 2006 to achieve the maximum score. Congratulations to AR Nav Supplies!
Many other outstanding performances were seen in all three races (16-hour, 7-hour, and 3-hour)—check NightAndDayChallenge.com (http://www.nightanddaychallenge.com/results.asp) for complete results.
Send us your routes and race reports, and we'll post them on the website. Here are a few tidbits heard right after the race:
- Tales of adventure included being turned away by a police officer with an automatic rifle at Fort Point (#64), and receiving quizzical glances from the homeowner at #84 (mailbox with snail on it).
- Extra challenge was afforded by CP #94 just north of Lake Merced (someone had scratched more graffiti on the bench, distracting from the graffiti we wanted you to find), the difficult-to-find small building at Fort Miley (#101) with the small sticker saying, "Fully alarmed K-9 response", and #92 at Bayview Park, which required negotiating a narrow, rocky trail through poison oak.
- Praise was heard for the vista from Lone Mountain College (#105) and the fanciful face carved into a piece of tree at #63.
If you loved this race, consider coming up to Seattle next month for the fifth annual Seattle Night & Day on July 21-22. Details are at NightAndDayChallenge.com (http://www.nightanddaychallenge.com). And mark your 2008 calendar for June 7-8 (tentative) for the 2008 San Francisco Night & Day Challenge. Finally, I've heard there are plans afoot for a San Diego urban rogaine in either Fall 2007 or early Summer 2008. Email if you're interested.
Thanks for joining us for this wonderful urban adventure.
