Location: Los Gatos, CA
Event Directors: - 650.281.5280, - 510.407.1876
Type: Annual membership meeting and election of officers

The Annual General Meeting of the Bay Area Orienteering Club will be held Saturday, April 20th, at the Vasona Lake event at 1:00 PM. At the meeting, members in good standing will vote for the Club's officers.

The Board has recommended approval of a set of five amendments to the club's bylaws. The amendments were developed by a subcommittee over the past several months, and then modified to reflect Board input. The complete details of the amendments are available here (PDF/125KB). The two most important ones are:

In order to take effect, these amendments must be approved by the club membership.

The Nominating Committee has proposed, and the Board has approved, the following slate of candidates for office:

Nominations for these offices may also be made from the floor at the meeting. (Information about the offices is below.) Our thanks go to the Nominating Committee, chaired by Jeff Lanam.

Note that Deron is a correction to a BayONet message (https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/baoc/conversations/messages/15874) posted on April 2nd. He has been chosen by the Event Coordination Committee as their representative, pending member approval.

If the amendments to the bylaws are approved, an additional office of Vice President will be created, and we will vote on someone to fill that position as well. We are also looking for members to form a Finance Committee, to work with the Treasurer.

All current members are eligible to vote on these matters. Non-members are welcome to attend the meeting as well. Now is a good time to make sure you have renewed your membership. You can join or check that you've renewed your membership here (https://www.memberplanet.com/Groups/GroupJoinLoginNew.aspx?ISPUB=true&invitee=i8qn36467w1nx).

In addition to consideration of the bylaws amendments and the officer election, we will hear more about the upcoming 2020 California Orienteering Festival (http://cal-o-fest.com).

If you have items for the agenda, please contact or (BAOC President).

All are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there.

See the information for the accompanying O' event for driving directions.

Sincerely,

, BAOC Secretary

Message From The Nominating Committee

As Chair of the BAOC Nominating Committee, I am looking for candidates for Officers of the club to be nominated for election at the Annual General Meeting, which will be held at the April 20th Vasona Lake Park event.

The officers are President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Event Coordinator. If you are interested in any of these positions, or have suggestions for them, please contact .

In particular, we are looking for a person to fill the Treasurer position. This person would handle the finances of the club. This next year is very important as we will be ramping up to host the 2020 North American Championships and the World Rogaining Championships. Sharon Evans has been handling this position very capably for several years, and would like to step down.

This sounds like a considerable amount of work, I'm sure. However, you would not be working alone. In addition to help from Sharon during the transition and afterwards, the Board plans to have a standing Financial Committee to work with the Treasurer. This is following the model of the very successful Event Planning Committee, which has worked well to build a robust schedule of events. We are also looking for members for the Financial Committee.

The Treasurer's responsibilities include handling all of the club's receipts and expenses, developing the annual budget, and preparing the quarterly reports for the Board. Experience with Quicken, Quickbooks, or other accounting software is essential.

The current President, Steve Haas, would also like to pass the gavel. I believe Vicki Woolworth is willing to stay on as Secretary. The Event Planning Committee has proposed Deron van Hoff for Event Coordinator.

Regards,
