Course Setter: Heidi Whalen
Type: C; Beginner (White & Yellow), Intermediate (Orange), and short advanced (Brown) courses will be offered.

Travel Warning

If you are traveling from the Peninsula or the South Bay, note that Doyle Drive (Highway 101 just south of the Golden Gate Bridge) will be closed. The 19th Avenue (Highway 1) approach to the Golden Gate Bridge will be open, but expect heavier traffic than normal on a Sunday morning. An alternative is to come up the East Bay and cross to Marin County using the Richmond - San Rafael Bridge.

We return once again to the Indian Valley college campus and surrounding meadows and hills. In late April, the hills will be verdant. Hopefully we will have more May flowers than April showers! The campus has a network of trails, oak forested hillsides, and meadows, and even some interesting gullies, in addition to the campus core of buildings. Heidi Whalen returns as the course-setter, having taken a sabbatical last year. She will be sure to have new course-setting twists for your enjoyment.

We will be offering White (beginner), Yellow (advanced beginner), Orange (intermediate), and Brown (short advanced) courses. The hills are typical of Northern California terrain, so Orange and Brown are guaranteed to have some steep patches.

Here are the course statistics:

    Course Length Climb
    White 2.3 km 45 m
    Yellow 3.2 km 130 m
    Orange 4.1 km 275 m
    Brown 3.6 km 295 m

This will be an E-punch event. If you do not have your own EP card (finger stick), you may rent one at the event. Everyone must stop by the EP tent after you have registered, but before you go out on the course, to be entered into the event database. Participants who have never used EP before can read our User's Guide to Electronic Punching (http://baoc.org/wiki/FAQ/User%27s_Guide_to_Electronic_Punching).

There is a very nice large sunny lawn next to Registration/Finish where you can share a picnic lunch afterward with old and new friends.

Schedule

Registration opens at 9:00 and closes at 12:00. Registration will be next to the swimming pool — the same spot we have used in past years.

A short, repeating beginners clinic will be available from approximately 9:30 through 11:00, depending on demand.

All courses close at 2:00, and controls will be picked up at that time. Please honor the course closure time, come to the Finish and download your epunch stick by 2:00 PM — even if you have not completed your course.

Driving Directions

To get to the Indian Valley campus, take Highway 101 through Marin County to southern Novato, and exit at Ignacio Blvd. Go west on Ignacio Blvd as far as you can go, where it terminates at the College of Marin Indian Valley campus entrance. Follow the campus road to its end, and park in the huge parking lot.

There's a map here that shows the location of the event.

Public Transit

Unfortunately, there is no weekend public transit to the Indian Valley campus.
