Highlights of BAOC Board of Directors Meeting

December 15, 2009, Menlo Park, California

Ben Legg is the club’s new Training Director.

Scott Aster will chair the Nominating Committee, responsible for presenting a slate of candidates to the board for all officer positions.

The club will be mapping Salt Point State Park, on the Sonoma County coast, in anticipation of holding an A-meet there in 2011.

Get Lost! and Terraloco want to hold a Rogaine in Henry Coe Park in December 2010, followed by a sprint tournament in January 2011, including a showcase WRE event with BAOC at Golden Gate Park.

BAOC is only holding one A-meet next year, at Boggs Mountain, in October 2010. Events for juniors and top-quality courses, including a sprint, middle, long, and a Night-O, are planned.

The BAOC 2010 Budget was approved.

The Junior Training Grant program will continue in 2010, with Jeff Lanam as chair of the committee that dispenses the money.

The Board decided that the equipment policy as written by Mark Blair describes the current modus operandi, and does not need to be formally adopted as a policy.

Nick is setting up a task force to proactively improve relations with parks. The task force will begin after the first of the year. If you are interested in participating, let him know.

BAOC received some publicity this fall when an article was published by a reporter who attended one of Rex’s events. An article on orienteering is expected in Boy’s Life in March.

We have been having a problem with synchronizing the EPunch controls and low battery power.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 9th, 2010.
