Saturday, April 19th, was a bright sunny day as the Stanford Orienteering Club welcomed over 120 participants to the Stanford Campus. Four courses were offered. The winner on the White Course, which went around the shore of Lagunita, was the team of Leslie Rogers and Rachel Vassar who narrowly defeated (junior) Julia Doubson.
Irena Stefenova easily won the Yellow course in a time of 28:09. The Score-O course provided 20 controls, of varying point value, and a 1-hour time limit. Scott Porter managed to visit all the controls in less than 40 minutes, and both Dennis Wilkinson and Steve Gregg were able to get all the controls in under 50 minutes, with 7 runners getting the maximum number of 52 points. On the Score (and Yellow) course there was an issue with control #515, which was reported as being misplaced, on the ground, and later re-hung by runner(s). We have given credit for the control for all Yellow participants, and to anyone on the Score course who went in its vicinity (most commented on it when they finished). While this did not make any difference in the overall winner, we apologize for those who lost valuable time looking for it.
The Sprint-O course was also highly competitive, with James Scarborough, on a return visit to the Bay Area, breezing through the Sprint course to take 1st place in a time of 19:13.
