BAOC Performance Grant Program

BAOC will help to financially support promising juniors who want to improve their orienteering performance, and elite orienteers who intend to run for the United States in international competition. All BAOC juniors and elites are encouraged to apply for a Performance Grant. If your grant application is approved, you can then be reimbursed for travel expenses, entry fees, and other expenses associated with your grant application up to the grant limit.

How does this work?

Step 1 – Complete the Performance Grant application form (75KB PDF) and send it to the Performance Grant Administrator (i.e., per the form). Please be specific. Anticipated expenses do not need to be included, but you need to state what specific activity the grant application is for. Examples are: Compete in the North American Championships; attend a specific training camp; spend the summer in Sweden training with a Swedish O club. Use your imagination and consider what might be a good fit for your personal orienteering goals.

Step 2 – The Performance Grant Administrator will notify you whether your grant proposal has been approved.

Step 3 – When you incur expenses associated with your approved grant, submit a Performance Grant reimbursement form (60KB PDF) to the BAOC Treasurer (i.e., per the form). Be sure to include any receipts or other documentation.

How much money can I apply for?

There are five Performance Grant levels. They are:

What other requirements are there?

To apply, you must be a member of BAOC, and a member of OUSA with BAOC as your primary club.

Although not required, you are encouraged to volunteer to help at local BAOC events and/or help with the BAOC Junior Program.
