BAOC Annual General Meeting

President Steve Haas called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
Steve thanked everyone for attending this meeting, especially to Dan Greene and Esther Heller for setting up the meeting and providing procedural guidance. It has also been great that club members have stepped up and created training courses so orienteers can still get their fix during the pandemic.
Steve then thanked the Nominating committee of Nick Corsano (chair), Scott Aster, and Dan Greene for presenting this slate that has been approved by the Board:
- President – Marie-Josée Parayre
- Vice-President – Stephanie Maclean
- Treasurer – Sharon Evans
- Secretary – Nick Corsano
- Event Coordinator – Scott Aster
As there were no other nominations for any of the positions, the slate was elected. The new officers will take their positions ten days from now on June 11.
Gavin Wyatt-Mair gave an update on the Cal-O-Fest, with the new schedule finalized and available on the website (http://cal-o-fest.com). The events will be from August 2 to 15, 2021, starting with the Sprints at the Presidio. So far only 15% of the registrants have requested refunds; fees will not increase for all who keep their registrations. Safety requirements are being determined, but may include “air” punching, as well as distancing and cleaning protocols. The club will need to practice these procedures, and will need to maintain and build the leadership and volunteer base to carry this out.
Dennis Wildfogel reported on the progress being made by the HERS (Having Events Restart Safely) committee (Scott Aster, Jay Hann, Steve Haas, Marie-Josée Parayre, Deron van Hoff, and Sarah Williams). They have looked at the riskier steps of the events (registration, beginners’ clinics, starts, downloading, and post-race discussion), and looked at options for minimizing risk. The first steps will be to find locations where the land managers are willing to host events. Suggestions are welcome and can be sent to Dennis.
Marie-Josée Parayre, president-elect, stated that she is looking forward to continuing the work of growing this active and respected club, and she welcomes feedback by email.
