This year, 222 people attended our China Camp meet, which accounted for 176 entries. Some had fun despite the excessive climb. Below are the complete results.
The large turnout was the result of the great job that Judy Koehler did with publicity. Articles were published in the Independent Journal, Santa Rosa Democrat, and Pacific Sun.
Assistant meet director Joan Roos did an outstanding job. She set the White and Yellow courses, which included field-checking, recommending map changes, and vetting. The day of the meet she hung the control bags, helped as a greeter at the finish, and filled in at starts. If that was not enough she helped pick up controls. Thank you very much for the great job you did, Joan.
Other starters who worked most of the meet were Gary Kraght (advanced starts) and David Meredith (beginner and Bike-O starts). David did a remarkable job, considering the long line of contestants at times. Gary is a veteran volunteer and suggested a few improvements with the advanced start. Thank you for the remarkable jobs you performed, Gary and David.
Volunteers working the finish area were Ian Ramsey and Evan Custer. Ian filled in so Evan could run a course. Thank you, Ian, for your time spent waiting for finishers. Evan once again conducted excellent finish tabulation despite the fact that runners and bikers were coming at him in all directions.
The results team had many volunteers: Marsha Jacobs, Thorsten Graeve, and Dean French. They were helped by youngsters Rachel Care and Katie Anthony, who hung the tags for all to see the results.
Jean and Ev Beuerman brought Gook-in-Aid for everyone to share and also helped hanging result tags. Thank you.
David Barr, Chuck Spalding, and Sharon Evans did control pickup. All of their help is greatly appreciated, as there were 66 controls to pick up. Thank you for your assistance.
Scott Aster conducted the beginner's clinics. It is reassuring to know that the job is in good hands. Thanks, Scott. Also, Werner Haag set up a Start-O. Thanks for your early arrival to complete your task before the participants arrived.
Keith and Darcy Richardson did registration. Collecting more money than usual, registering everyone, and answering questions was a formidable task, especially with the Bike-O and heavy turnout. Also, thank you to the person or persons who helped while Keith and Darcy ran a course.
James and Joe Scarborough pre-ran the Blue and Green courses, respectively, and helped identify missed placed controls. There were two on the Green course that James rehung before the regular start and another control that I corrected on Blue. Thanks for your help and suggestions on setting courses.
Vic Revenko was a big help for me in setting the courses. He brought the equipment to my house and vetted the courses. He also hung all of the bags for the Blue, Red, and Green courses. His encouragement was very helpful when I was bogged down in the small details of course-setting. Thank you, Victor, for all you did.
Also a big "thank you" to anyone who helped that I failed to mention.
