While the orientering relays were going on elsewhere at Spooner Lake, 30 people found their way to an under-construction parking cul-de-sac down the highway to try challenging White and Yellow courses. Both courses climbed up the mountain for some great views. The Yellow course, in particular, looked out on both Spooner Lake and Lake Tahoe and went through a variety of hilly, rocky, and heavily vegetated landscape. Both courses featured a very steep leg to get back to the nice, flat parking area.
Thanks go to Evan Custer, of course, for setting the courses; to Anneliese Steuben and a young man named Carl for hanging the controls; and to Ed Quartemont and Laura Seymour of Florida Orienteering for their help all day.
