Nearly 100 people showed up to Lake Elizabeth on a warm summer morning. This was a significantly higher turnout than last year's Lake Elizabeth event. Was it the weather or did people want to get one last O' in before the Sierra O-Fest the following weekend?
Because this is an urban park located in the middle of Fremont, the format was a 60- and 90-minute score-O, along with three beginner courses. The score-Os and the Long Yellow included the park as well as some residential areas adjacent to the park. The White and Yellow courses remained within the park. Below are the complete results.
On the 90-minute score-O, Syd Reader beat out all of his competitors, getting 42 controls in 84:11. First on the 60-minute score-O were Alan Glendinning and Meg Gerstner, who were a mere six seconds faster than Werner Haag.
Hennessey was first on the White course with a time of 45:33. Second place on the White course were first-timers Alisha Patnaude and Lynn Reed, who enjoyed this event so much that they traveled to Tahoe two weeks later and got third place on Saturday's Burton Creek White course. First on the Yellow course were Brad and Merrille Willoughby with a time of 47:04. First on the Long-Yellow was Nik Weber with a time of 55:35.
