After two consecutive years of wet weather at Sunol, we had a beautiful spring day and a great turnout (nearly 200). Below are the complete results.

Kelly Wells made his advanced course-setting debut this year, doing a great job on the advanced courses. Kelly also convinced me to use a shuttle to the remote start. This worked out very well and permitted us to use a portion of the park that we seldom get to see. Kelly and Peter Graube tried to set courses to avoid poison oak as much as possible (how did we do)?

Course comments

The White course winner was Malcolm Wyatt-Mair, who smoked through the 2.3 Km in 19:08, followed by sister Kelsey in 28:33. Malcolm will be doing Blue with his Dad soon. Yellow winner was Greg Morgan in 45:14. The Orange course was won by Rob Gendreau in 56:01, followed by Parag Gupta and Erin Krueger.

The Brown course (and the advanced couples competition) was won by Meg Gerstner and Alan Glendinning in 67:04, followed by Nick Corsano (70:03) and Janet Petersen (76:04) - not bad for a new mother of twins!

Hannu Haarma topped the 25 Green runners in 66:31, followed by Anneliese Steuben (a fast-rising star from GCO). Evan Custer appears fully recovered from a long injury and took third place in 71:28. Matthias Kohler led the Red runners in 66:08. Derek Maclean was second (72:17) and Kent Ohlund third (74:25).

In a very close Blue contest, Dan Stoll-Hadayia (67:19) edged out James Scarborough by a mere 8 seconds. These guys are running at 9.3 min/km, folks. That's mighty fast for Sunol terrain. Again there was a very close race for third place, with Doug Stein (76:53) edging out Thorsten Graeve (76:56) and Steve Gregg (77:10.5). No, that's not a typo...Steve had so many interesting excuses that he talked the meet director into cutting 0.5 second off his time (hope it was worth it, Steve).
