Gavin Wyatt-Mair on 2015 U.S. Trail-O Team

Congratulations to Gavin Wyatt-Mair for being selected to the 2015 U.S. Trail Orienteering Team. The following team members will compete at the 2015 World Trail Orienteering Championships (http://www.wtoc2015.org) in Croatia in June:

Open Class: Sharon Crawford (RMOC), Clare Durand (LAOC), and Mika Latva-Kokko (NEOC), with Mike Poulsen (CROC) as an alternate.
Paralympic Class: David Irving (SDO)

Julia Doubson and Matej Å ebo Selected for 2015 JWOC Team

At the JWOC Team Trials at the Flying Pig A-meet in Kentucky, it was announced that BAOC Juniors Matej Å ebo and Julia Doubson earned spots on U.S. Junior Team that will compete in the Junior World Orienteering Championhips (JWOC) this summer in Norway. Matej was the first male selected; Julia the third female. It's great to see the hard training paying off for them. (Additional selections will be made after this week.)

BAOC Results at the 2015 U.S. Championships

BAOC had many outstanding results at the U.S. Championships at the Flying Pig A-meet in Kentucky. The Sprint was held at Morehead State University; the Long and Middle were held at Carter Caves State Park.

The temperature ranged from cold to colder. On Saturday, the temperature at the Start was 26 degrees, and the earlier starts on Sunday were even colder!

Here are the U.S. medals won by BAOC members:

All in all, great BAOC results for the weekend, especially for a meet on Eastern terrain. It was such fun to see the camaraderie of our club members as they cheered on each other.

Choice Hotels Discount Program Is Ending

"Effective March 31, 2015, Orienteering USA and Choice Hotels will part ways. This will conclude an over two-year partnership which generated approximately $6,500 in sponsorship fees and room night commissions for OUSA.

"OUSA will immediately begin to seek a new hotel partner that our A-meets and orienteers can benefit from in their orienteering and everyday lives. We seek a partner that:

Julia Doubson & Gavin Williams on 2015 U.S. Junior Team

"The Junior Team Executive Steering Committee (JTESC) is excited to announce the U.S. Junior National Team (JNT)​—​the new name for the Junior Standing Team​—​for 2015! These young athletes will represent the USA at international competitions, and train at a high level for orienteering.

"They have each committed to outlining and maintaining a regular training program (under the guidance of U.S. Junior Team Coach Erin Schirm), recording their training, attending the JWOC Selection Races in March, maintaining an OUSA ranking, and attending two national training camps. They are also committed to giving back to their clubs in the form of orienteering education for beginners and course reviews for the younger juniors.

"Note: There are still open spots on both the male and female squads, and JTESC will be accepting applications for the 2015 JNT until June 15, 2015. We encourage clubs to identify promising young women and young men, who might be interested in being on the Team and having the US Junior Team Coach support their training. Should the team be filled before June 15th, we would encourage all athletes still interested to consider applying for the 2016 JNT.
