May 1st Update
- Bill Cusworth has placed Gavin's Annadel Corona Middle course on MapRun. He also replaced all the flagging on the course with the biodegradable flagging (https://www.presco.com/safety-marking-products/products/roll-flagging/) that Nav-X has been using for their courses. (You don't have to feel guilty about leaving this flagging in the woods—it decomposes in 6–24 months.)
- The parks listed below are currently open. East Bay Regional Parks can be checked here (https://www.ebparks.org/default.htm) (select the park at the top right of the page) or here (https://www.ebparks.org/news/covid_19_park_and_trail_updates.htm).
- Keep in mind that most of the streamers were placed many months ago, so don't be surprised if they have disappeared.
Thanks to Gavin Wyatt-Mair, Misha Kreslavsky, Rex Winterbottom, François Léonard, Marie-Josée Parayre, Luc Poppe, George Minarik, John Crowther, Steve Gregg, Matej Šebo, Werner Haag, Bill & Heidi Cusworth, Dennis Wildfogel, our NAV-X friends, and John Richardson, you have chances to get out of the house and run/walk some courses around the Bay Area.
General Notes
- These are training courses, not organized BAOC events. We do not have park permits for these courses.
- Be careful for your safety. You are on your own—tell somebody where you will be and when you expect to return.
- You are doing this at your own risk. Each participant assumes full responsibility (BAOC accepts no responsibility) for any and all injuries, losses, and damages that he or she incurs while attending or participating in these courses. Hazards could include steep hills and cliffs, loose rocks, occasional dense and sharp brush, poison oak, mountain lions and rattlesnakes, … and more.
- Be mindful of the general COVID-19 restrictions, and any specific restrictions that might apply to the parks.
- There are no fees for running these courses. Of course, charitable donations to BAOC are always appreciated. 😊
