One-Day Embargo Area for Competitors

If you are competing in this event, most of the Tahoe Cross Country trail system is embargoed for the day before our event. Any exceptions to this embargo (typically made only for first-time ski orienteers who have not pre-registered for this event) must be made by an Event Director. If you have a regular workout with a team at this resort on that day, let one of the Event Directors know ahead of time so an exception can be made.

Registration and Prices

Pre-registration has closed, but you can register at the event. Event fees are required of all competitors (but not of guardians that shadow children on a course). Trail passes are required only if you do not already have a trail pass for that day.

Competitors who come from outside the USA can pay their registration fees (in U.S. dollars) when they show up at the event.

Beginner Clinics

Free beginner clinics, which typically last 15 to 20 minutes, are available to any competitor who needs to learn how to use the map and learn about the rules of the sport. If you need a beginner clinic, let the registrar or event director know and we will direct you to the person giving the clinics. Typically, we have a person assigned to give clinics from 9:30 to 11:00. After 11:00, we can find someone to give you the clinic but you might have to wait a few minutes.

Starts

All competitors will be assigned start times between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM on a first-come-first-serve basis. Typically, you get faster snow with the earlier start times.

Directions

From the Bay Area, Sacramento, or Reno:

  1. Take Interstate-80 to Exit 185 in Truckee.
  2. Go south on CA-89 for 13.6 miles to Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City.
  3. Turn left onto CA-28 and go 2.7 miles to Fabian Way (across the street from a 7-Eleven store).
  4. Turn left onto Fabian Way and go 0.1 miles to Village Rd.
  5. Turn right onto Village Road and go 0.3 miles to Country Club Drive.
  6. Turn left onto Country Club Drive and go a couple hundred feet to the ski area on the left.
  7. Park either in the parking lot, or preferably in the street if there is space. If necessary, wait for a car to leave the parking lot. If we can, we like to leave the parking lot for locals, who come and go on a regular basis.

Check-in and registration are in the building by the parking lot (go into the lounge/cafe area).

Food

Tahoe Cross Country has a nice cafe that serves various warmed foods and sandwiches. We've told the owners to stock up for a larger crowd.

Thanks
