The annual Golden Goat and Golden Kid will be held this year on the Berkeley hills, at Tilden Regional Park. Martin Kunz will be the course setter for this event. Please be prepared for an interesting and challenging Goat.
Note: This event is for intermediate and advanced orienteers only. Be assured that plenty of drinks and snacks will be available at the Finish to replenish your energy.
This is a traditionally untraditional, long and hilly, mass-start event that is freely modeled after the traditional BillyGoat (http://www.billygoat.org/FAQ.html). Unlike regular Orienteering events, everybody starts at the same time on the same course, which considerably shakes up the strategies to be taken. In order to spice up the strategies, little map-candies, such as butterflies or optional forks, are thrown in.
The Golden Kid is a shorter version of the Goat. Typically, competitors can decide part way through the Goat course if they want to opt out of the Goat and do the Kid.
