Format: Standard format
Starts: 9:30 A.M. to 12 Noon with assigned early start times for those who preregistered
Special rules:

Map: This map was converted from one of the best BAOC foot-O maps. The off-trail detail is as good as it gets for ski-O. To see a sample map, click the RouteGadget link on the left side of this web page then look for a past event at this venue in 2007. Note that the trails differ from that year.
Waxing: We do not know whether this facility has a waxing bench for your use, but we do know that they have someone who can wax your skis for a fee.

Check-In and Registration

Everybody must check in or register before skiing to get their start chit, trail pass, and to sign waivers. Check in and registration will be done in the lounge in the main building.

See the Lodgings page for the Tahoe area. In general, the nearby lodgings (for Tahoe City) include numerous motels and hotels, and numerous cabins rented by local realtors. You can also stay in Soda Springs (40 minutes away) or Truckee (25 minutes away).

Do your grocery shopping in Tahoe City, where large grocery stores abound.

For dining, there are a numerous restaurants in Tahoe City. If you like Mexican Food, try The Blue Agave.

Driving Directions

Burton Creek is on the northwest side of Lake Tahoe in the Sierras. To get there, take Highway 80 to Truckee. Exit at Hwy 89 (Exit 185) and drive south to Tahoe City. At the Y intersection, go north on Hwy 28 (North Lake Boulevard) about 2 miles, and turn left on Fabian Way (7-11 store on opposite side of highway). Make an immediate right onto Village Road and follow it as it veers to the right. Turn left at the first intersection and park as close to the Tahoe XC office as you can.
