O' in the Oaks III A-Meet News
All,
The A-Meet is just 2 weeks away. The courses are going through their final vetting and we expect a great weekend. The following is some important information you might need to know:
1) The HQ hotel is:
- Extended Stay America
- 1000 Hillview Ct.
- Milpitas, CA
- 408-941-9977
Discounted hotel rooms ($50+tax per night) can be reserved by mentioning Bay Area Orienteering Club Packet Pickup will be from 6pm-10pm on Friday, October 21.
2) Camping — In case you tried to reserve a camp site and were told they were full, try again. Some camp sites had been "blocked" because of a controlled burn they were planning on doing. The schedule has changed and these camp sites are now available.
I am still in need of volunteers/help in the following areas:
- Starts — I need a crew chief and a staff to man starts. Contact me directly if you can help.
- Shuttle for Day 1 — We need to shuttle Intermediate and Advanced competitors a short distance (about 1.5km) from the park entrance, and along paved roads. If you would be willing to coordinate this effort or volunteer your vehicle or serve as a driver, please contact me.
- Control Pick Up — I have folks to coordinate the effort, but need more help.
- Beginner Clinics for White and Yellow Recreational (9:30-10:30 am).
- If anyone is not competing on Saturday and Sunday, but would like to help in setup on Friday (like with carrying water out to the water controls), please contact me.
- Setup help for early Saturday morning — Tents, start and finish areas, etc.
- Someone to coordinate post-race snacks (fruit, pretzels, etc.) back in the registration/download area
- Search and Rescue Coordinator.
