Course Setter's Notes

By Kent Ohlund

Here are the course statistics for the event. There may be some minor adjustments, but this should be very close to the final stats.

Bayfront is an excellent area for White and Yellow (begineer) courses. The map used for the sprint courses will show only contours and vegetation boundaries, so navigation will be fairly challenging.

There will be four courses: White, Yellow, Sprint 1, and Sprint 2. For those who will do both sprint courses, the accumulated total time will be posted as well as individual course times (but only the individual courses will be submitted to the National Series).

  Course Length Climb Controls
  White 1.8 km 30 m 11
  Yellow 2.4 km 60 m 12
  Sprint 1 3.3 km 75 m 12
  Sprint 2 2.0 km 60 m 8

E-punch will be used for the sprint courses (rental e-sticks will be available at Registration). Regular punch cards will be used for the White and Yellow courses.

Orienteering shoes (or some other shoes providing good traction) should be worn for the sprint courses, because the recently-cut grass can be slippery, especially on hillsides. Also, watch out for numerous squirrel holes.

As mentioned in the event announcement, please do NOT park along the west (outbound) side of the park road.
