It was seasonably warm (i.e., pretty hot, but not as hot as the previous event) at Diablo Valley College, but we still had a reasonable crowd of about 85 participants. Those who attended were challenged with a very interesting campus Sprint designed by Matej Šebo, with multiple levels, impassible walls, and “traps”. Getting disoriented could result in very long per-km times over very short distances (ask me how I know...). It was good to see families, teams, and scout groups enjoying the event.
As usual, it takes a full team to put on an event like this. I am especially grateful to Matej for not only all the course setting duties, but also filling in for some of the event director responsibilities like making sure (plenty of) maps were printed.

- We all should be very grateful to Vicki Woolworth for stepping in as Event Director, in addition to her role as Regional Event Coordinator. That is, Vicki filled the role when nobody signed up to be Event Director. This is at least the fifth time this year that a Regional Event Coordinator has needed to do that!
- Note that we do not have an Event Director for the Evergreen Valley College event on August 9. On behalf of Graham Brew (), the South Bay Regional Event Coordinator, please consider being the Event Director at that event. (Information about the Event Director role is here. However, it's easier than that information makes it seem, and "mentoring" assistance is always available.)

2025 Summer Series Results
A huge thank you to Majej Šebo who sent some really fun and challenging courses for us at Diablo Valley College. I hope everyone enjoyed the non-stop navigation as much as I did. And thanks too to all the other volunteers — not least Vicki Woolworth who took on much of the organizing, the Registration and E-punch crews, and all the other volunteers.
I will note that we have a significant and ongoing shortage of Event Directors for many remaining events in 2025. This job is actually not that onerous — really just a bit of prior planning and organizing via email. And a few hours of oversight the day of the event. I (or other folks) would be very happy to mentor first-time Event Directors and ensure success. Please let me know if you are interested.
This was event three in the Summer Series. Note that events #4 and #5 are up in the Tahoe area in less than two weeks time — see information here. Then we are back in the Bay Area for event #6 (Aug. 9, Evergreen Valley College, San Jose), and finally event #7 (Aug. 24, Bedwell Bayfront Park, Menlo Park). The overall standings are based on your best four of these seven events. So even if you have yet to compete in this Summer Series, you could still maximize your score!
