Thanks to everyone who participated! We hope to see you all in 2023 at the California Orienteering Festival (http://www.cal-o-fest.com).

Many, Many Thanks to the Tahoe 2021 Steering Committee!!

Hard to imagine a more astonishing series of obstacles encountered in an attempt to put on a big orienteering event than occurred for Tahoe 2021, and yet we had the event: the 3-Day U.S. Nationals, a relay, and the North American Rogaine Championships. We all owe a huge thank you to the Tahoe 2021 Steering Committee (aka the California O-Fest Steering Committee), without whom this event could not have taken place. The seven members of the Steering Committee have been meeting weekly for over three years (three years!), during which time they had to navigate the pandemic-caused postponement of the O-Fest from 2020 to 2021, and then a second postponement to 2023, at which point they took on the task of Tahoe 2021. Through permitting issues, last-second changes from venue owners, and air polluted by smoke, they persevered, and ultimately gave us the gift of high-quality orienteering in a variety of venues. Sure, there were things that didn't go as planned, many lessons to be learned, much to think through for next time—but the events took place and gave us a huge dose of orienteering. We are extremely grateful.

Many, many thanks to the members of the Steering Committee, each of whom gave an incredible amount of their time to create something for the enjoyment of the rest of us:

Gavin Wyatt-Mair
Sarah Williams
Erin Schirm
Marie-Josée Parayre
Stephanie Maclane
Tapio Karras
Jay Hann

(Being a denizen of the end of the alphabet myself, I have listed them in reverse alphabetical order.)

Of course, an enormous number of other people made highly significant contributions to the event, and our heartfelt thanks go out to each of you as well. We hope to thank each of you individually in the coming days.

24-hour Competitive Results

You can see the details (controls, times, splits, points, distances, ...) of a team’s track by clicking on the team’s name in the results below (which opens a new window).

View or download GPS tracks:

If you want to see a team’s track displayed on that website, scroll down the Map Objects column to the Lines & Polygons section, and deselect all but the team(s) of interest (there doesn’t appear to be an easy way to deselect all the teams).
You can see the profile of a team’s track by clicking on the “graph” icon to the right of the team’s name.
If you want to download a team’s track, click on Export at the top left. Select the file format that you want from the Format field at the top of the window. Then scroll down and click on the check mark next to Shape (to deselect all the teams), then click on the selection box(es) for the team(s) of interest, and click on Export at the bottom right. (We’ll leave it to you to figure out how to view the data in the file. 😉)
