Board Meeting Highlights
By , BAOC Secretary
Congratulations to our Orienteering USA 2012 award winners:
- The President's Award went to Tony Pinkham, Greg Walker, and Greg Walker, Jr. for their leadership of the 2012 Ski Orienteering World Cup and accompanying Sierra Ski Orienteering Festival.
- A Golden Troll Award went to Jay Hann for his work as Juniors director, especially for expanding junior participation by creating the BAOC California Outdoor Orienteering League (COOL) and his work for the 2011 Interscholastic Championships.
Expanding Maps: Bob Cooley, Mapping Director, has made updates to Rossmoor Bar, Presidio, Shell Ridge, Vasona, and Little Truckee Summit (expanded to 13 square km); and has generated a base map of Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear. Ben Legg is also working on maps of Alvarado (northern tip of Wildcat) and Codornices Park, and is considering making a map of Lafayette Reservoir.
Rex Winterbottom is finalizing next year's schedule, including getting a few more volunteers for the proposed Sierra Summerfest.
There's a new permanent course at Vasona Lake, thanks to Mark Sinks, who set it up as part of his Eagle Scout project. The map and instructions are on the BAOC website here.
Jeff Lanam is planning to revive the BAOC Bulletin in a new revised format. He welcomes your submissions.
