BAOC has an exciting opportunity to work with NASA-Ames to map and hold events at Moffett Field in Mountain View. The board approved a resolution in favor of pursuing this collaboration. Thanks to Peter Graube for getting the ball rolling on this.

US clubs have been encouraged to submit bids for the 2012 Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC). A contingent of club members is evaluating the possibility of BAOC making a bid, and will advise the board of their findings. This would be a very large-scale undertaking. A special meeting of the board may be called to consider the bid.

Scott Aster was confirmed as chair of the Nominating Committee. The committee will recommend candidates for club officers to the board at the March meeting. Officers are elected at the club's Annual General Meeting in the spring.

Mark Blair made a presentation on the new, streamlined process for handling e-punch at B and C events, using the Gebe printer. Many club members contributed their ideas. The process, which significantly reduces the need for skilled e-punch volunteers at meets, has been used at Las Trampas and at COOL events.

The Board discussed and adopted the 2009 budget. It features increased spending on junior activities. Eligibility for junior training grants was expanded to include coaches. Any club member who would like a copy of the approved budget should email the BAOC .

There was discussion of making a contribution to the U.S. Trail-O team fund, but no action was taken.

The next quarterly board meeting will be Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in Menlo Park.
