Junior Training Weekend

HVO will run a Junior Training weekend.

Where: Education Through Adventure camp on the Baileytown map in Harriman State Park, NY.

When: September 30 - October 1, 2006. Camp will start at 8:30am Saturday morning and end on Sunday afternoon about 4pm.

Participants: The camp is for juniors who have some orienteering knowledge and skills above entry level (Yellow USOF course level and higher. Instruction and training for beginners will not be provided.)

Purpose: The goal of the event is to show the juniors and young orienteers different exercises, which they can use to make their everyday training sessions more effective.

Coaches: All exercises will be designed by Alexei Azarov. Adults interested in helping as coaches are very welcome. HVO will provide grants for qualified coaches to pay their camp registration fee. Any help in organization and conducting the event from orienteering gurus is very welcome. (Please contact Betsy or Alexei if you would like to help.)

Program: A detailed training program for the camp is being planned and will be announced when it is ready. For now 4 training sessions are planned on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.

Fees: $45 per participant. This includes 1 night in a cabin at Education Through Adventure camp, Saturday night dinner, exercise map printing, and breakfast and lunch cold simple meals.

Registration: We'll need the following information: 1. Full name of participant 2. Date of birth 3. Course/class (orienteering skills/experience level) To register send the information to Betsy Hawes at bnghawes at frontiernet.net. before September 22. Once registered you will receive instructions of how to pay the registration fee and further information as it becomes available.

Waiver of Liability: All participants MUST have the Waiver of Liability signed by their parents or by themselves(if 18 or older.) upon check-in at the camp. The Waiver will soon be available for download on the HVO website.
