BAOC COOL
Bay Area Orienteering Club California Outdoor Orienteering League
2012-2013 Season Results
Congratulations to all COOL participants on a successful season!
COOL participants, parents, and BAOC runners attended the COOL award ceremony at the McLaren Park event in San Francisco, at which ten first-place medals were awarded, two 2nd-place, and one 3rd-place. This COOL season had 28 participants, with eight events between October and March.
The high school boys had a three-way tie for first place between Rory Maclean, Maximilian Marin, and Ben Hallsted. The next two competitors (Flynn Buxton-Walsh and Gus Callaway) were not far behind.
Thanks go out to the instructors for the juniors orienteering skills clinics — Nick Corsano, Janet Petersen, Rex Winterbottom, Ben Legg, and Peter Graube. Thanks also to all the Event Directors and Course Setters at the BAOC events that we used for our cool season — Golden Gate Park, Morgan Territory, Coyote Lake, Annadel, Bayfront, Joaquin Miller, UC Berkeley, and McLaren.
The final results are below.
Scoring Method
- Scores were calculated based on the best time on that course in your group (elementary, middle or high school). The competitor with the best time received 100 points, all others received a score based on their difference.
- Each competitor's top 3 scores were added to calculate the score for the season. (Low scores are generally due to fewer than three events attended.)
- For schools, the top 3 scores from individuals were added to calculate the score for the season. Schools with three or more competitors had an advantage.
- Competitors who attended more events had an advantage because they had more chances to get a high score.
