- The length of the competition is from 1 Jan 2007 thru 31 Dec 2007.
- Your youth must reside in northern California.
- You must be a member of BAOC. (Rescinded for 2007)
- You must register the youth for which you get credit before the first meet by emailing with a) your name, b) your organization (if any), and c) the name(s) of the youth. The youth will remain registered for the rest of the year. (Rescinded for 2007)
- The person with the most points on 31 Dec 2007 wins.
- The first-place prize is a GPS wristwatch.
- A second-place prize (TBD) may be awarded if there are more than 20 competitors who have earned 1000 points.
- Points are earned by your youth running in Orienteering meets using the following criteria:
- 10 points for each correct control (so DNFs and MSPs count as well)
- 10% bonus for Yellow course
- 20% bonus for Yellow/Orange course
- 30% bonus for Orange course
- 40% bonus for Orange/Green course
- 50% bonus for any Advanced course
- 1 point for each full minute under 70 minutes finish time (not valid for DNF or MSP)
- Score-O count 15 points per control, no time bonus, no course bonus
- Rogaine count 15 points per control, no time bonus, 30% course bonus
- After control points, course bonus, and time-bonus points are earned, there are additional adjustments:
- 100% bonus for an "A" meet
- 200% bonus for meet outside of Northern California (no additional bonus for an "A" meet, take your group to the Rocky Mountain 1000 day and really clean up)
- 300% bonus for the U.S. Interscholastic Championships
- Your own children generally do not count, but get partial credit if they are among other youth. Your own offspring's points are adjusted by this factor:
