Minutes of the BAOC Annual General Meeting held April 28, 2024

Present:

The meeting was held at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline. It was called to order by the President at 1:03 PM.

Welcome and Appointments – Marie-Josée Parayre

The President welcomed the AGM participants. She appointed Esther A. Heller, PRP, as parliamentarian, Nick Corsano and John Richardson as the Credentials Committee, and Graham Brew and Dennis Wildfogel as the Minutes Approval Committee.

The Credentials Committee reported that as of 1:05 PM there were 22 Club members present. The President announced that a quorum was present.

Election of Officers – Steve Haas and Marie-Josée Parayre

The Nominating Committee, comprised of Steve Haas (Chair), Nick Corsano, Chuck Spalding, and Dennis Wildfogel, recommended the following candidates for election as officers of the Club:

As no additional nominations had been submitted to the Secretary nor made from the floor, the President declared the above candidates elected.

President’s Report – Marie-Josée Parayre

The President called out Cal-O-Fest as a highlight of the previous year, and thanked the Planning Committee for many years of hard work. She also highlighted the mapping projects currently in process, and thanked Matej Sebo for stepping into the Mapping Director role.

Vacant positions include the Juniors Director and Equipment Director. The Club is also looking for a new Outreach Director and Regional Event Coordinator for the East Bay.

The President is in the process of gauging interest in updated Club uniforms.

Treasurer’s Report – Gary Kraght

The Treasurer reported a healthy balance of $100,951.84 (as of April 28th, 2024) across the Club’s Wells Fargo and PayPal accounts. $7,341.23 net loss has been made so far in 2024, primarily due to Cal-O-Fest expenses (which are believed to be completed).

Event Coordinator’s Report – Graham Brew

The Event Coordinator began his report by thanking the many volunteers who have made the five events so far this year a success. He also thanked Scott Aster, Jeff Goodwin, and Deron van Hoff, the Club’s Regional Event Coordinators.

The next Club event will be held at Indian Valley College. A six-event Summer Series is being planned, as well as a weekend of orienteering near Lake Tahoe. Approximately eight days of orienteering are anticipated for the fall/winter season.

Miscellaneous

Werner Haag reported that membership numbers are stable, and the Club currently has approximately 220 memberships, which when accounting for family/groups comes out to about 400 members.

The President introduced NJROTC instructor Senior Chief Jerry Skirvin to the Club.

Jeff Lanam moved to thank all incoming and outgoing Club Officers for their service. The motion was passed without objection, and the Officers were duly thanked!

The meeting was adjourned at 1:37 PM.
