One of our most runnable areas which has suffered for years from not having a decent map, has been drawn into the modern era of IOF Standard OCAD mapping (Evan Custer), and extensive field checking by Penny and Harold DeMoss. For orienteers who have run on the old map, the new 5-color map (1:10,000), with dozens of new features and "massaged" contour lines will provide a totally new experience. We will have 4 courses with pre-marked maps: Orange, Brown, Green, and Long Red. Since the Marin Water District restricts our usage to 20 runners per day, we will have the same courses on both days. Pre-registration is required. NO RACE-DAY REGISTRATION. To pre-register, please send your name, telephone number, e-mail address, course, and day (Sat. or Sun.) with $6 to Penny DeMoss, 6365 Crown Ave, Oakland, CA. 94611, by Tuesday, Dec. 8th. We anticipate a waiting list, so if you have pre-registered and will not be able to attend, please call by Wednesday eve Dec. 9th--(510) 658-4327, before 9:30 PM so we may fill your spot and refund your entry fee. Orienteers who are not pre-entered or on the waiting list may call Thursday eve Dec. 10th before 9:30 PM for any openings.
To get to Bon Tempe (Marin County), take 101 north, or 580 west from the east bay to Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Greenbrae. Continue on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. through Ross and San Anselmo to Fairfax. In the center of the town of Fairfax, turn left at the traffic light onto Claus Dr. Make an immediate left onto Broadway, followed by another immediate right onto Bolinas. Go about 2 miles and look for the sign for Lake Lagunitas on the left. Park in the usual area at the rear of the park. Starts and finishes will be at the parking lot. Starts from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM each day. COURSES CLOSE at 2 PM. Volunteers to pick up controls on Sunday will be appreciated.
