Alta Bates, Oakland
Beginner & Intermediate Course Design Workshop
Tuesday, July 28, 1998, 6:30PM

Have you considered volunteering to be an event director, but have been hesitant because you feel that you don’t know enough about designing an orienteering course? Then this is the workshop for you. The workshop is designed to show the steps necessary to design and set white, yellow, and orange courses. We will go over the guidelines for these courses, and explain how handrails, attack points, catching features, and route choice should be taken into consideration. Following completion of this workshop, you should be able to design the beginning courses, and with the help of a more experienced director, set the courses and help out at an orienteering event in 1999.

The workshop will be held at the Imaging Center of the Alta Bates Medical Center, 5730 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, Tuesday evening, July 28th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Pizza will be available at 6:30 p.m., so you can come directly from work without having to worry about dinner.
