The Sierra Ski Orienteering Championships (formerly known as the California Ski Orienteering Championships) determines who the top male and female ski orienteers are for white, yellow, orange, green, and blue courses. The champion for each of these categories is the person who has the best placing at three out of four event days. When there is a tie, we first compare competitors at events they competed at together, or, when competitors haven't competed at the same event, we prioritize the results as follows:

  1. Bear Valley day 2 (point-to-point courses)
  2. Royal Gorge
  3. Burton Creek
  4. Bear Valley day 1 (score-O courses)

To encourage people to direct and set courses for our events, we credit directors and course setters with one qualifier for one or more events that they organize. This means that they need to compete in only one event (for which they do not know the courses ahead of time) to qualify for the championships.
