Vasona Lake

Date: Saturday, May 8, 2004
Location: Los Gatos, CA.
Event Director: - 408.285.5201
Course Setter: Jeff Lanam
Event Type: C; "Come and Try It" event: White & Yellow courses; pending park approval

This will be a "Come-and-Try-It" meet, with a White course and probably something more challenging like a Memory or Window-O course. Bring your friends and family to introduce them to orienteering. Vasona Lake, a facility of the County of Santa Clara Regional Parks and Recreation system, is 151 acres located just off Highway 17 in Los Gatos, and is the site of BAOC's newest map. After orienteering, there will be plenty to do. We have reserved a group area that has plenty of shaded picnic tables and barbecue grills, so bring your lunch. There are boats for rent, a train to ride, and even a carousel at nearby Oak Meadow Park. It will be a perfect event to bring the whole family to.

Directions

To get to Vasona Lake, take Highway 17 South from San Jose. Exit at Lark Avenue and turn left (east, over the highway) at the light. At the first traffic light, turn right (south) onto Los Gatos Boulevard. Turn right again (west) at a traffic light onto Blossom Hill Road. After crossing over Highway 17 again, the park entrance will be on your right. There is a $4 per car parking charge at the kiosk. Follow the O signs to the registration area.
