"Come and Try It" Event
Fremont
Sunday, June 29, 2003

Contact: Vicki Woolworth, 510-638-2394

We return to this jewel of a city park in downtown Fremont for the first time since 2000 to offer White, Yellow, Start-O, and Score-O courses. Dean French will be setting courses on Wyatt Riley's 1998 map, which was updated this spring by Bob Cooley. White (Beginner) and Yellow (Advanced Beginner) will stay within the park, but the Score-O will make use of the network of streets nearby to give the more adventurous a longer workout. Start-O is a map exercise for kids not ready to go on the beginner course alone, and stays within sight of the start area.

Lake Elizabeth offers boating, fishing, picnicking and a swim lagoon. You can grab lunch at a snack bar, or come early to claim a barbecue. What could be better than a late June day at the park with family and friends? You can find out more about the park here.

Naturally we could use a few volunteers to help make this a fun event for the newcomers, especially if you can help with beginners' clinics. Contact me if you can help with this or any of the other usual duties. (Thanks!)

Directions

Take BART to the Fremont station and head east to Fremont Central Park & Lake Elizabeth. The registration and start will be just south of the tennis courts, which are at the northern corner of the park. From 880 by car, exit at Stevenson Blvd east (toward the hills). Continue on Stevenson Blvd 2.9 miles, and take a right into the park at Gallaudet Dr. (about 3-4 blocks past Paseo Padre Pkwy).
