Volunteer Appreciation Event
Contact: Trevor Pering,
Saturday & Sunday, Dec. 14-15, 2002
Pre-registration required! Limited to 20 people per day.
This year, Bon Tempe hosts BAOC's first-ever Volunteer Appreciation Event. This
meet is open only to BAOC members who have volunteered at a club event during 2002 -
and for you, it's FREE!
However, due to park restrictions, only 20 people are
allowed to run each day, so pre-registration is required. To register,
please email me and tell me the following:
There will be four courses offered: Yellow/Orange, Short (Brown equivalent),
Medium (Green equivalent), and a Long (Red, which is simply a combination of
the Short and Medium courses). Additionally, the Short course will consist
of many controls placed close together, similar to the Day 1 courses at
Burton Creek this year, designed for rapid navigation.
- Which day you want to participate (Saturday or Sunday)
- The course you would like to run (see below)
- An event at which you volunteered during 2002 and what you did
Preliminary course stats:
Yellow/Orange: 4250m, 200m climb, 11 controls
Short: 3900m, 180m climb, 18 controls*
Medium: 4900m, 200m climb, 11 controls
Long: 8800m, 380m climb (literally short+medium courses)
* Yes, this is correct -- it's the "short course" format, where there are many controls spaced closer together.
From Highway 101 in San Rafael (Marin County), take the Sir Francis Drake
Blvd. exit and go west for 5.5 miles to the town of Fairfax. Turn left at
Claus Dr. (Rino gas station), then immediately take another left on
Broadway, then a right on Bolinas Rd. Stay on Bolinas Rd. for about 1.5
miles until you reach a side road on the left with a large wooden sign that
says Lake Lagunitas. Turn left onto Sky Oaks Road and stay on it until you
reach the ranger kiosk. Pay the entrance fee, then proceed to the parking
lot at the end of the paved road.
