Training session

Discover San Francisco's 2nd largest urban park! McLaren park offers a nice mix of rolling hills, meadows, woods, and creature features. A 5.5km, 9 control Orange level course is offered.

The map is a 6 color, unmodified USGS Topo Quad, blown up to 1:10000 from 1:24000, with 25 foot contours. Only mapped features are used as control sites. The course and clue sheet will be printed on the map.

Start/finish is by the skate park at the end of the parking lot of the Crocker-Amazon playing fields on Geneva Ave. Starts are available from 10:00am to 11:00am. Bring $2 to cover event costs.

I have made a web page for the event with course setter's notes, photos, and a directions map: http://geocities.com/mclarenparko

Directions

From Highway 280 in San Francisco, take the Geneva/Ocean Ave. exit. Head East towards the bay. After about a mile, the Crocker-Amazon playing fields will be on your left. If you hit the Cow Palace you went too far. Try your luck parking in the Crocker-Amazon playing fields parking lot - spaces are available along Geneva if the lot is full. Start/Finish is by the skate park at the end of the parking lot.
