National Orienteering Day!

San Francisco
Sunday, May 6, 2001

Contact: Marsha Jacobs, 415-726-6636

Come out to one of our beautiful San Francisco locations for the second half of National Orienteering Weekend. We'll have beginners' clinics and courses for all skill levels, from newcomers to experienced orienteers. This venue will also provide a great time and place to introduce your friends and family to the world of orienteering.

Available courses will be White, Pink, Yellow, Orange, and Long Orange. For those on Orange and Long Orange, be sure to wear long pants, as there is some poison oak in the area.

As usual, registration will be open 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Beginners' clinics will be offered throughout the morning, as needed, beginning at 9:30 am. Start times will be available between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm. All entrants must complete their courses within the 3-hour time limit. Courses will close 3 hours after the last start time. The event will be held rain or shine.

Directions

Registration, Start and Finish areas are all at Pershing Square, the Main Parade Ground adjacent to the Presidio Visitors' Center.

From the North or South on Highway 1: Turn East on California St. and go about 13 blocks to Arguello Blvd. Turn left and go about 4 blocks, entering the Presidio via the Arguello Gate. Follow Arguello, veering right at the fork, all the way down to the Main Parade Ground (big parking lot). Follow the orienteering signs to the registration/start area.

From the East: Use the Lombard St. entrance. Go about 1/4 mile, veering right onto Presidio Blvd., which becomes Lincoln Blvd. Continue on Lincoln until the Main Parade Ground appears on the left between Graham and Montgomery.
