Come to Wine Country for National Orienteering Day! We're having a "come and try it" event especially for first-time orienteers at kinder, gentler Spring Lake park in Santa Rosa, the heart of Sonoma.

We'll have White and Yellow courses for beginners, and free beginner's clinics will be offered throughout the morning, as needed, beginning at 9:30 am. If you've ever wanted to try orienteering, this is a great opportunity! Bring your family and friends, and stay afterward to picnic.

For the advanced folk, we'll have a memory-O. Should be challenging - short, but in technical terrain (lots of pits!).

Fees will be $6 for everyone, with the usual group and junior discounts. Registration will be open 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Start times will be available between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. The event will be held rain or shine.

Directions

Take U.S. Highway 101 north to Santa Rosa. Once in Santa Rosa, exit onto highway 12 going east. Follow highway 12 for 1.5 miles to its left turn at Farmer's Lane. Do not take this turn, but instead, continue straight onto Hoen Avenue. At the Hoen-Summerfield traffic light 1.5 miles later, continue straight, then take an immediate left onto Newanga Avenue. Newanga leads into Spring Lake County Park. At the ranger's kiosk, make a right and go up the hill to the Oak Knolls picnic area.
