Mid-week training session

Contact: Russell Green, 650-372-9389

Come and join us for this training event in the beautiful undulating hills of Edgewood Park. If the weather is kind, the evenings in the park can be quite lovely, usually very quiet with some great views.

The exercise will be similar to line-O: participants follow a pre-marked course, then mark the location of each control that they pass onto their map. Points are awarded for correctly indicating the position of each control, and subtracted for incorrect placements. The black-and-white park map will be used, which shows contours and trails only, so the emphasis will be mostly on reading contour features. The majority of controls will be placed either on, or relative to large topographic features. Due to the nature of the map, some of the control placements may be a 'little subjective' - it will be interesting to compare notes afterward!

You will be able to choose from 3 loops, approx 5k (100m climb), 8k (150m climb) or 10k (250m climb). Starts from 6.15 to 6.45 with a mass start at 6.30 if the demand is there. Entry fee is $1 - see you all there!

Directions

West entrance: Take I-280 to the Edgewood Blvd exit. Go west to Caņada Road, then go south until 400m after Caņada crosses back under I-280. Park on the right hand side of the road. The park is on the left (east side).
