Contact: Doug Stein, 408-844-9624
Format: Score-O with mass starts at 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM
Amenities: Water fountain and public restrooms
Cost: $1 per map
Stuff to bring: Watch, pen, compass and running shoes. Don't forget to bring a watch, as this is quite important for a score-O event!
Parking: Free
Terrain: Rancho is a great running park with a very nice trail system. Bring your running shoes! The training event is entirely on trails, and participants may not leave the trails for any reason (other than evading mountain lions).
Format: The format is a score-O with both 60 and 90 minute time limits. The late penalty is one point per minute. There will be a mass start at 6:00 PM for the 90 minute time limit, and another at 6:30 PM for the 60 minute time limit. You can change between the 60 and 90 minute time limits after going out, but I'd like for everyone to be back by 7:45 PM. I'll also be doing individual starts from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM for those who don't need the mass start hysteria.
The controls have different values based on their number. Controls in the 100's are worth one point, the 200's are worth 2 points, etc. There are streamers with various letter markings that you need to write down. Sometimes a couple of the streamers go missing during the event. If you can't find a streamer, just put an "M" in the box.
Dinner: Please join us for dinner afterwards at Hobees Restaurant at the "Oaks" across from De Anza college, near the intersection of hwy 85 and Stevens Creek.
Questions: Email Doug Stein at dsteinactivesw.com or call 408-969-5676 during the day or 408-844-9624 in the evening until 10:00 PM.
To Hobees: From Rancho, get back out to 280 south, immediately exit onto 85 south, then immediately exit onto Stevens Creek Blvd. Turn left at the end of the off ramp, make a U turn at the second light and turn right into the Oaks shopping center.
