Goethe Park, a small but varied Sacramento County park on the banks of the American River, is the site for Gold Country Orienteers' first meet of 2000. The March 19 meet will feature white, yellow, and orange courses. The park is too small for any advanced courses.

The park has plenty of trails for bicycles, hikers, and horses, and the plentiful wildlife includes deer, rabbits, lizards, wild turkeys, waterfowl, an occasional coyote, and rattlesnakes (but they'll probably still be asleep in March). It has little or no poison oak.

Directions

Take Highway 50 east of Sacramento about six miles to Bradshaw. Go north to Folsom Boulevard and go east or right about a mile and a half to Rod Beaudry Dr. Go left into the park. There are lots of signs for the park, and there is a park entrance fee.
