 DAY 1 COMMENTS

  1) MK: South on the trail. West over the saddle along the green to the
         stone field.
     N: Straight.
L: Straight. Hit the fence real hard and lost about 20 sec catching
        breath and checking for wounds.
Michi: Straight. Lost 1 min around the stoney ground east of the control.
S: Straight. Took a moment to run directly into the barbed wire
fence; managed not to get poked much, fortunately.

  2) MK: East to the hill. Contoured to low and ended up at the small
southern clearing. North to the green and to the stone.
N: Straight. Went too low on the right of control. Lost 1.5 min.
L: Same as MK. spent about 30 sec relocating at clearing
Michi: Straight. Went too low and ended up at the open south of the
control. Lost 3 min. I could not recognise the light green and the
         clearing around the control.
S: East to hill. Contoured too low and a little past the control.

  3) MK: Compass straight. This was a mistake becase I didn't really know
which pit I hit. I had to search to almost all to find the
         control.
N: Followed the edge of clearing. Came in 30m past control.
L: Along trail reading the shape of the edge of the clearing to
identify the correct place to enter woods.
Michi: I tried to hit the control from the edge of the open west,
but I could not tell the correct place. Lost 3 min.
S: Along the edge of the clearing. A little slow finding it.

  4) MK: Over the hill over the meadow to the three little greens to the
         control.
     N: Straight, over the clearing.
L: Stayed high to the right.
    Michi: Straight.
S: Through the clearing. Went just south of the thicket.

  5) MK: North east to the trail. East on the trail to the meadow. North
on the meadow and north west to the to the control.
N: Along the side of meadow to large road, then hesitated a little,
and went straight thru green, to control.
L: Straight over top of hill.
     Michi: Almost same as MK.
S: Same as Michi, bu didn't go west enough and ended up in the
clearings to the east of the control.

  6) MK: South east to trail junction. On the the trail to its bend.
        South to control.
N: Came to long narrow clearing just east of 5, then followed that,
crossed large road, cut acrosss to another road, then straight
        from bend.
     L: same as MK
Michi: South east to trail junction and straight from it, but could not
recognise the clearing and ended up the road south east of the
control. Hit from the clearing along the road. Lost 2 min.
S: Intended to do the same as MK and L, but after the bend, I somehow
started contouring and falling off, until I hit the man-made
object to the east. South to the trail and back to the control.

  7) MK: To trail. SES between greens. Over clearing to small clearing
         north of control. To control.
N: Direct hit. Noticed the clearings before control.
L: Left on trail to clearing, check off gentle ridge and reentrant,
        incipient stream.
Michi: Could not identify the clearings, finally I was on the clearing
west of the control and hit from the edge of it.
S: To trail and then the big clearing; then south. Saw a control to
my right, and didn't think it would mine yet, but had to check
	 anyway - it was mine.

  8) MK: Compass to trail junction. West on small trail until the field
became more runable. Uphill to root stock.
N: Wanted to hit the road at bend but missed to the left and got to
junction. Then cut across the opening, veered left on uphill, had
to right to get to control.
L: Intentionally went left to edge of map, along trail. Flawed route
choice because there is no attack point. Got confused by
vegetation near control and finally relocated in field 250 meters
        to west.
Michi: Followed the large open west of the control to the junction
and straight. Uphill but missed to the right ending up the stone
area. Could not identify the large rough open around the
control again and looked for control for some time.
S: NW-ish to small trail, to large trail, to bend. Up the hill, then
over to the west to the control.

  9) MK: To trail. West on trail. Compass over medow through forest over
meadow through forest to trail. Climbed and contoured to control
N: Followed trail/clearings through the upper part of the reentrant,
then straight up and contour to control. Looked for a tree in the
forest, hmm, I am glad I found it.
L: west then south to trail along edge of map. Follow trail around
hillside to saddle at the edge of the clearing. Check off thick
down the hill in the distance.
Michi: Same as Neeme. Felt hard to run fast because of uneven
ground and sore blister of the medial side of my right foot.
S: SW to the trail on the edge of the map. Across and up the big
open reentrant SE of 9 and then contoured to correct reentrant.

 10) MK: To trail junction. Trail to meadow. West on meadow. Through
         forest to control
     N: Same.
     L: Same
     Michi: Same.
     S: Same.

 11) MK: Compass through both re-entrents. Contoured arund hill to
         control.
N: Kept to the right of red line to avoid reentrants. Still had to go
through second one. I believe the control was placed lower
(further NW) than on map. There was a parallel situation. I was
convinced of that when I came to road and ended up much further
from bend than I should have. Maybe it's just the feeling I had.
L: right to trail and down ridge. Looks faster than going straight
Michi: Same as N. I had the same impression.
S: Down into the first reentrant, but higher than I thought.
Contoured over, found trail just at the spur above 11. Down the
	 spur.

 12) MK: Down to trail. Along the trail to the meadow and going up the
small trail. Over the hill. Down to the stream. Up to to the
green. Along the green to the stream. Along the stream. West to
         control.
N: Followed the big road, then acrosss the clearing at first small
trail, followed road again, then took the small path through green
and to trail junction, down the reentrant. When it got greener I
thought I left stream to the left, but ended up on the another
hill on the right. I even crossed that narrow strip of yellow,
but thought that another unmapped thingie. Then missed the
control again because it was so thick there and I was lost I
        guess. Lost 4 min.
L: Same on the first half. Down stream until it flattened out and
then slightly left to the control on the edge of a drop off.
Michi: I made the same mistake as Neeme did. As I believed I left the
stream to the left, I thought I was just close to the control. Yes, I
lost my concentration at that time, and lost where I was completely.
It was nightmare that I was wandering in the dark green!
S: Same as L. I almost got lured over to the other hill.

 13) MK: NW to clearing to first tree to control at second tree.
N: Still upset, wasnt paying attention. Veered to left crossed the
wrong stream, came down to path to relocate, then back and up.
        Lost 2 min.
L: Straight, over the knoll and down.
Michi: NW to clearing, cross the trail, down the reentrant and veered
     to left.
S: Through the clearing, across the reentrant, and then down.

 14) MK: Contoured all the way to the control.
N: Same, followed paths where I could. Syd and Michi did better
         running around.
L: went down on the trails
Michi: I almost gave up the race, then ran slowly on the trail
and road. Although it is down and up, I think running the trail is
much faster because the control is close to the road and
easy to get from the junction.
     S: Same as L.

 15) MK: NW to trail. On trail to trail junction. Trail north to pit.
         Compass to control
     N: Road, then straight.
     L: same as N.
     Michi: Same as MK.
S: Same as MK, but was a little slow finding it. Stared dumbly at my
map for a bit while I was 3 meters below it.

 16) MK: Compass. Ended up at the eastern root stocks. From there to
         control.
N: Wanted to bounce off trail but missed first trail, took second
trail on the right, then realized I was off went down the hill.
        Lost 1 min.
L: angled down and right to trail, down trail to ridge and control
     Michi: Same as MK.
S: Down and right; found an intermediate point (boulder and rootstock
with red? control) then over to all the fallen trees.

 17) MK: Straight.
     N: Same.
     L: Same
      Michi: Same.
     S: Same.

 DAY 2 COMMENTS

  1) MK: South on trail to trail junction. Trail east to junction. Trail
south. Overshot the by 150 m due to the scale that was different
from the day before. Climbed back to control.
N: South on trail, then cut across to another trail, compass bearing
from the top of the hill, no control. Searched around in that
battlefield there, more people started to show up. Went back to
trail to try again, ended up in the same place, saw big herd of
turkeys around there. Others went further downhill and didnt come
back, so I assumed they found control. So I found it too.
L: As a pre-starter, there were no turkeys. South on trails, angled
up hill towards control. Lots of pits and detail, so I figured
I had to be to the south. Went north until the pits ended
        and found the control.
S: I had no turkeys, either. Same as Lans.

  2) MK: East to trail. Trail to clearing on the right. Carefully
following the features to the control.
N: East to trail, hit the trail crossing to the north. Then had to
look a little for the control when off the trail, I was too
	 north.
L: South of the dark green then had to wander a bit in the area.
S: East to the trail, then east to the clearing just north of 2.

  3) MK: To trail junction. On trail to meadow. Over meadow to forest.
Ended up at green to the north of control. From there to control
N: To trail junction, didnt recognize the larger road, cause it
seemed like a small path in reality. So I took the other trail
and only realized the control was gonna be on my left, not right,
when I saw Derek dive off to the right. Followed him more or less.
L: Like N, ended up on higher trail by accident, identified it
quickly and stayed on higher trail to cliff.
S: Took the higher trail; east through the clearing after the
	 junction.

  4) MK: Compass to big boulder. From there to control.
N: To trail, then diagonally up from the bigger clearing. Ended up
highr. Caught up to Derek who had started after me (6 min?)
L: Same as N. minus Derek.
     S: Same as L.

  5) MK: Straight.
     N: Same.
L: angle right to trail, down trail to field, field to control.
     S: Straight.

  6) MK: To trail junction. On trail over meadow through forest to meadow
Over meadow using compass straight over other meadow to control
N: As straight as possible. Used road across the first big clearing.
Derek went more to the right.
L: stayed on the smaller trail all the way to the field just before
        the control
S: Substituted distance for climb - to the trail and east then south,
then followed the clearing edge down.

  7) MK: SE to trail. Trail over dam. South east on the first small trail
Climbing hill using the compass. That was a huge mistake!! I
missed the control (I thought I would easily recognize the
tree) and ended up at the trail. Went back on the trail for 100m
         and down to the control.
N: Trail, road, over dam, straight from road crossing. Looked for
         streams and other stuff.
     L: Same as N
S: Same as N,L. Found the little hill to the west, and was set.

  8) MK: Compass to first stream. Contoured around to second and third
stream. Hit the third stream above its fork and contoured to
         control.
N: Got sloppy here for no reason. Thought I'd go straight/contour,
but I didnt realize the control was much higher, so I veered much
left. For a while even held my map 180 degrees wrong way and
thought 'Oh my god, where am I going?' then corrected but still
ended up going 45 degrees to left. forgot about the last stream
too, crossed path at about 400m (sic!) west of where I thought I
was, ended up at the big, steep reentrant, followed it east some,
completely lost, then returned to trail, went to control. Lost 4
        min?
L: contoured to trail and made a parallel error identifying fields.
entered woods at stream 250 m. west of where I wanted to.
Contours didn't match, saw field and corrected with minimal time
        loss
S: Same problem as Neeme. Wandered generally in the right direction
until I found myself next to the clearing west of 8.

  9) MK: North to trail. West on trail to its. bend. Compass all the way
         to control.
N: Went down to trail, was surprised to see the trail on the
opposite side of stream, but wasnt thinking clearly and started
running (to make up time, hehe) Then realized I had come too far
west on trail. Looked up the hill and decided not to go back,
instead went all the way to lake and big roads, then took a path
from clearing to near control. Lost 4 min?
L: due north, over ridge and across road to second big bend. left
road about 250. west of bend, straight to control
S: Down to stream, NW up the joining reentrant, around the flat, down
and joined the road at the tiny clearing east of the road
junction. To the trail junction, along the trails, then over to
	 the tree.

 10) MK: West to trail. West on trail. West along green. Down to trail
junction. Western trail along green. West over clearing over
trail trough forest over clearing to control.
N: Went straight towards 10, hit road at second junction N of red
line, straight to control from there.
L: basically straight, drifted a bit down to north early on.
S: Pretty much the same as MK.

 11) MK: Compass over meadow to trail. Along trail over big trail over
meadow to forest. Through white arond hill to control
N: Followed meadow all the way, then cut across small hill before
         control.
L: due north to indistinct trail through thick to main trail. Down
trail to junction and south of thick.
S: Across clearing/trail/clearing. Tried to go throught the narrow
white bit between fight, but kept getting bogged down.

 12) MK: Tried to go north and then NE over meadow to trail. Went to far
north and ended up at trail. Went ESE over small clearing to
bigger clearing to the trail I wanted to hit in the first try.
On that trail to big trail. North on trail to small cearing.
Over clearing (Trail) along green to big boulder. North to other
big boulder. From there to control
N: Pretty much straight, followed small clearings to road, then
trail, and straight down the hill to control. I just realized I
never look at boulders or anything like that to rely on because
most of them arent mapped in the bay area. Even paths I've
        learned to take with caution.
L: basically the same as N
S: Same as N, except I did use the boulders along the way.

 13) MK: To trail. Along trail until it turned west. Compass down the
hill. Over stream. Up the hill. Contoured around to stony meadow
         North along green to control.
N: Contour to trail just below excavation, then off the trail when it
turned and more or less straight to control.
L: small trail all the way to big reentrant. Over ridge at the major
spur, and into field as attack point.
     S: Same as MK.

 14) MK: Contoured to control area but couldn't find the control itself.
Several people were looking for the control. It took me almost
10 min to find it. I was terrible tired.
N: Contoured, ended up lower, saw people storm the control.
L: Same as N, but saw fence below instead of people above.
S: Same as Neeme. There were so many pits and clearings/runnable
forest were so interchangeable, I had a hard time knowing where I
	 was.

 15) MK: NWN over fence to fence corner at out of bound area. West to
         control.
N: Contoured, crossed fences at fence intersection, more
         contour/straight.
     L: Same as N
