Thanks to everyone for making BAOC's first meet of 2001 a success. Below are the complete results.
The short White was won by Ann Fitts and Tricia Roth, 11 seconds ahead of Eglute Martisiute. The long White was won by Alan Harrington by a 24-minute margin. Since all the White course controls were also on the Scor-O, Alan could have been 4th on the 50-minute Score-O by making the same run.
Dan Greene won the short Score-O, followed by Marsh Jacobs. On the 75-minute Score-O, Syd Reader couldn't resist, and was the only person to get all 28 controls, but wasn't the only person to be late. Last year's winner here, Wyatt Riley, got back on time with 25 to win. Jill Seaman was fastest woman on the 75-minute Score-O.
I called one of the fireplugs red, when it was at least red-orange, and maybe even orange. I'll take my Pantone matching sheet out there next time. There was only one incorrect answer out of about 650 questions answered. I provided coyote as the correct answer for the weather vane animal, though it might actually have been a wolf howling at the moon. One person thought it was an anteater. It is possible that anteaters howl at the moon after a day of eating fire ants. I certainly would.
I would like to thank the staff. Rosemary Johnson got the permit. Nancy Lindeman gave the beginner's clinic for a relativity large number of beginners. Jean and Ev Beuerman did the registration. Steve Beuerman tested active.com. Patty Clemo vetted and did starts and finishes.
